The Lapland owl is a resident of large, old forests that contain clearings and swamps. It most often settles in large nests of birds of prey. Sometimes it lays eggs on tall stumps or directly on the ground. The body length of this owl is 65-70 cm, wingspan 135-160 cm, weight 650-1100 g (males), 1000-1900 g (females).
